Job Description

Do you thrive on building a strong safety culture and making a real difference to people’s wellbeing at work? We’re looking for a passionate and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to join our team in Inverell on a 12-month maternity leave contract.

This is your chance to step into a pivotal role where you’ll be the go-to person for safety – guiding, coaching, and working hand-in-hand with our people and leaders to ensure everyone goes home safe, every day.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Champion a positive safety culture and bring safety to life across the site.
  • Support teams to identify hazards and risks, and make sure the right controls are in place.
  • Provide practical advice on WHS legislation and best practice.
  • Drive continuous improvements in safety performance and lead indicators.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain registers for hazardous substances, dangerous goods, and equipment.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, finding ways to prevent them happening again.
  • Support Safety Committee meetings and engage with Health & Safety Representatives.

What We’re Looking For

  • A Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety or willing to obtain if successful. 
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Experience in a similar role (experience in food manufacturing is an advantage).
  • Confidence in leading or supporting incident investigations (ICAM, STAMP, CAST or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – able to connect with all levels of the workforce.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
